NSW Public Works was engaged by Hunter New England Local Health District as the Project Manager for the Raymond Terrace GPU Super Clinic HealthOne.  The provision of the new facility strengthened health infrastructure by replacing out-dated separate and inadequately sized facilities with a design built functional facility that complies with the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines.

NSW Public Works was engaged as the Project Manager at approximately 75% detailed design completion stage. Services provided included program management, design completion management and documentation review, tender management, contract administration, and risk management.  The project was delivered within the original budget.  Complexities of the project included heritage listed Jacaranda trees in front of the site, heritage listed sandstone building across the road from the site, no information available regarding site rehabilitation, construction within a residential business community and management of the contract following liquidation of original tenderer.

The project adds significant and increased health services benefits to the Raymond Terrace community.  Local patients who rely on the renal dialysis now do not need to travel to Newcastle for treatment.  The Raymond Terrace GPU Super Clinic Healthone building design won the “Best Large Scale Commercial Development” and the “Best Accessibility” Awards at the Lower Hunter Urban Design awards.
